This is a very unusual vase. In the kiln run, a vase tipped over and touched this vase on one side up by the shoulder - It was fused and both vases were ruined, or were they?
This is such a lovely vase I hated to throw it away, so I carefully pried them apart and drumeled the oval spot smooth. I visted my favorite bead and stone shop and found this remarkable stone that nearly matched the vase's color - a dab of epoxy and voila!
The twin streaks emanating from both sides of the stone looks as if it was part of the project all along. Because this is actually a blem - I am going to deeply discount it to 50% off. So if you love it . . . It is a real steal.
Production Notes - Elegant, precious and one of a kind, the crystal process is difficult, with a high failure rate but the vases are so incredible and beautiful. Each crystal is similar to ice crystals that form on a winter window - you cannot predict or control them. If you are looking for something special - You found it with this line of soft colors and beautiful crystals.
About Our Process:
Items I create are hand-thrown pottery from clay on a wheel in my studio or occasionally hand-formed flat pieces. All are original and one-of-a-kind as there are no production runs of this work. Nor are the pieces dipped in glaze - they are all hand painted with multiple coats to achieve a rich dimensional glaze look. All items are fired in our own kilns twice - a bisque and the final glaze high temperature 2,300 degree firing.
The process is highly laborious, but I love the simple, whimsical and unique look of every piece. I am constantly experimenting with color combinations, design concepts and ultimately the actual use of these pieces for my friends and customers. I hope you enjoy the pieces for many years to come and I look forward to your feedback on my work.
Yours in Clay . . . Eva.
