Large Blended Color Crystalline Bowl

Large Blended Color Crystalline Bowl

$215.00

Crystalline bowls are one of the most difficult items to create. Throwing a large 10"-14" plus bowl is already difficult, but the crystalline glaze runs and collects in the bottom of the bowl. We vent some of this molten glass out of the bowl while it is 2300 degrees to keep from over pooling.

A really big bowl at 12" wide, but this one is a wonderful blend of colors on both front and back. While and gold crystals at the top going toward golds and then brilliant blue at the bottom. A real presentation bowl with a great foot at the bottom. You will never tire of this bowl.

Production Notes - Elegant, precious and one of a kind, the crystal process is difficult, with a high failure rate but the vases are so incredible and beautiful. Each crystal is similar to ice crystals that form on a winter window - you cannot predict or control them. If you are looking for something special - You found it with this line of soft colors and beautiful crystals.

About Our Process:

Items I create are hand-thrown pottery from clay on a wheel in my studio or occasionally hand-formed flat pieces. All are original and one-of-a-kind as there are no production runs of this work. Nor are the pieces dipped in glaze - they are all hand painted with multiple coats to achieve a rich dimensional glaze look. All items are fired in our own kilns twice - a bisque and the final glaze high temperature 2,300 degree firing.

The process is highly laborious, but I love the simple, whimsical and unique look of every piece. I am constantly experimenting with color combinations, design concepts and ultimately the actual use of these pieces for my friends and customers. I hope you enjoy the pieces for many years to come and I look forward to your feedback on my work.
